Best Benefit Ever: Retirement Benefits for Tennis Aficionados

The United States Professional Tennis Association is helping its members stay active for a lifetime with a new partnership.

What’s the benefit?: Call it a win-win: Sports-apparel brand 2XU is offering members of the United States Professional Tennis Association special discounts for its compression gear, along with motivation for USPTA athletes to wear the 2XU label for years to come. As part of the endorsement agreement, 2XU will contribute 5 percent to members’ Retirement Gold+ accounts when they purchase attire for club pro shops or tennis facilities. “Athletes of levels in all sports are enhancing their athletic experience by minimizing risk of injury during activity and recovering faster by wearing 2XU compression; joining this stable of trusted USPTA partners will enable tennis professionals to introduce their clients to compression apparel and help them increase their enjoyment of the game,” Randy Becker, national sales manager of 2XU Tennis, said in a press release.

Why it works for members: Not only do members get discounted tennis attire, but their purchases also go toward post-retirement fiscal security. There’s unlikely to be buyer’s remorse for items discounted by 40 percent that also ease the burden of saving for retirement. And 2XU is just one of six contributors to USPTA’s retirement program, which may include a 401(k), IRA, and Roth.

Other benefits: When they’re not paying attention to their own performance on the court, USPTA members  get the chance to see the greats play at major events, such as the Emirates Airline US Open Series and the 2015 Australian Open.
