Comings and Goings: September/October 2015

A roundup of new hires and other personnel moves in the association industry.

The Aerospace Industries Association has hired David F. Melcher as its new president and CEO. Melcher previously was CEO and president of Exelis, Inc.

Sue Haney has been named senior director of membership for Soroptimist International of the Americas. Prior to joining Soroptimist, Haney was senior membership operations manager for Lions Clubs International.

Natalie Ortiz was recently hired as Meet Minneapolis’s new East Coast national account executive. Ortiz most recently served as eastern regional senior sales manager with the San Mateo County/Silicon Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Groundswell has hired Michelle Moore as CEO.

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association has chosen Patrick Hope as its new executive director. Hope most recently was senior director of legislative policy at the American College of Cardiology.

Susan Newman recently retired as executive director of the Seismological Society of America. SSA has hired Nan Broadbent to succeed Newman.

Glen Long has joined PMMI, The Association for Packing and Processing Technologies, and will serve as senior vice president. Long served as PMMI’s chairman in 2004.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington recently promoted Wendy Novak to president and CEO.

Mallory Gott, CAE, has been hired as Advanced Events, Inc.’s new CEO.

The Entrepreneurs’ Organization has hired Vijay K. Tirathrai as its new CEO.

The American Institute of Physics has selected Robert G.W. Brown as its new CEO. Brown previously served as the chief sensor scientist at the Advanced Technology Center of Rockwell Collins, Inc.

Michelle Czosek, CAE, has been named president and CEO of the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives. She had been an associate director of WSAE since 2013.

The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau has named Keith Backsen as its new director. Backsen previously was vice president of sales and services for Visit Spokane.

The Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced the promotion of Keri Willard to sales manager in the convention development department. Willard previously was a convention sales assistant.

Chris Price has been named Tradeshow Logic’s new chief strategy officer. Price most recently was vice president at Graphic Arts Show Company/NPES, The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing, and Converting Technologies.
