The Association of Academic Physiatrists’ 2016 Annual Meeting takes place in Sacramento, California, next week.

More than 1,000 physicians, residents, and fellows in the physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) field are headed to California’s capital city for the latest research, education, and quality clinical care.

Association:  Association of Academic Physiatrists

Conference:  2016 AAP Annual Meeting

Venue: Sacramento Convention Center

Location: Sacramento, California

Following a slate of preconference meetings and workshops, the 2016 AAP Annual Meeting officially starts on Thursday. That day will include the meeting’s first plenary session. Dr. Lois Margaret Nora, president and CEO of the American Board of Medical Specialties, will discuss professionalism and why physiatrists must maintain their certifications. Also on the schedule:

Paging Alex Trebek. The first-ever Resident Jeopardy Competition is going down during the Resident/Fellow Networking Event. Residents will compete against each other in a game of PM&R Jeopardy. The winner will receive not only a $250 Visa gift card but also bragging rights for their residency program as well.

Lights, camera, action. Attendees having trouble deciding which session to attend during a particular timeslot may want to turn to the Speaker Preview Library. There they can watch one-minute videos—created by the speakers themselves—that explain what their sessions are going to be about.

What’s new and next? It’s necessary that everyone in PM&R knows about the latest advancements in the field and what’s on the horizon as well. To help with that, AAP 2016 will introduce an Innovation Showcase on the tradeshow floor. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in product demonstrations, provide feedback, and ask questions in an informal and enjoyable setting.
