Best Benefit Ever: Purchasing Power

The Advanced Medical Technology Association hopes to leverage its members as a way to reduce prices on common services and equipment.

What is it? There’s always strength in numbers, and that’s the idea behind the new purchasing-group benefit offered by the Advanced Medical Technology Association. AdvaMed, which is working with Biocom Purchasing Group to offer the service, will work with suppliers around the medical device industry to improve prices for everyone.

Why it works: Beyond leveraging buying power, the AdvaMed Purchasing Group (APG) will help ensure that members receive high-quality products and services, according to the association’s president and CEO, Scot Whitaker. “We are thrilled to be able to offer this new member benefit,” Whitaker said in a news release. “Through APG, AdvaMed members will have access to the very best goods and services from nationally recognized suppliers at the very best cost, using a trusted and proven vetting system and the collective purchasing resources of our membership.”

Other benefits: AdvaMed, which represents the makers of medical devices, also provides free webinars, discounts on event and education offerings, and access to the association’s technical staff. For associate members, who represent professional service firms in the industry, AdvaMed offers access to accounting, legal, and consulting help, as well as an inside line to venture capital firms.
