Best Benefit Ever: Compensation Data

A California hotel group launches a new platform to allow members to discover wage and benefits data specific to the hotel industry.

What is it? The California Hotel & Lodging Association has launched LobbyLights [PDF], an on-demand software platform that allows hotel owners to compare their compensation and benefits packages to what their competitors offer in the local area, across the region, or around the country.

Why it works? The tool, available 24/7, helps the association’s members stay competitive in the marketplace. “The cost of attrition of an employee earning less than $30,000 a year can range from 10 percent to 20 percent of the annual compensation,” CH&LA said in a statement [PDF]. The platform delivers “industry-specific reports that will help your property save money, lower employee attrition, and establish a competitive wage base.”

Other benefits. CH&LA offers member discounts for UPS, Staples, and FTD. Members also can save on leading environmental-certification resources, and they get a free membership to the LawRoom, an online service where they can easily find answers to questions on employment law.
