The Association of Academic Physiatrists’ 2017 Annual Meeting kicks off next week in Las Vegas. More than 1,000 are expected to be in attendance.

Around 1,000 trainees, educators, thought leaders, and other professionals in the physical medicine and rehabilitation field are headed to Vegas next week to connect, collaborate, innovate, inspire, share, and learn together.

Organization: Association of Academic Physiatrists

Conference: 2017 Annual Meeting

Venue: The Delano Hotel and Mandalay Resort

City: Las Vegas

AAP 2017 begins next Thursday morning with a plenary session featuring Dr. Thomas Nasca, CEO of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. He’ll discuss how to leverage resources to support physician well-being. Also worth noting:

Gender gap. A half-day workshop will focus on career development for women in academic physiatry. Interactive sessions will touch on gender disparity, salary negotiation, long- and short-term goal setting, identifying mentors, personality assessments, and career advancement.

Milestone year. AAP turns 50 this year, and to honor a half century of mentorship, leadership, and accomplishment, a breakfast celebration will be held on the closing day of the conference. The meeting’s preliminary program also included photos and memories from the past five decades.

Personal agenda. AAP has launched an online itinerary planner for the meeting. It allows attendees to easily navigate through all meeting information, presentation details, and speaker profiles; select sessions that are of interest; and then create a personal itinerary that can be exported to Excel, Word, their calendar, or email.

The usual social spaces—Twitter (#AAP2017) and Facebook—will have additional details.
