The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives’ 2018 Annual Convention begins next week in Iowa. Attendance is expected to top 1,000.

More than 1,000 people who work for or with chambers of commerce will make their way to Des Moines, Iowa, next week to share ideas, build community, and learn new strategies to make their organizations more successful.

Organization: Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives

Conference: 2018 ACCE Annual Convention

Venue: Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center

City: Des Moines, Iowa

Following a board of directors meeting and first-time attendee orientation, ACCE 2018 begins on Tuesday evening with a welcome reception at the World Food Prize Hall of Laureates, a museum that celebrates people who have dedicated their lives to fighting hunger. Also noteworthy:

Time for dinner. Networking dinners allow attendees to hobnob with 11 fellow chamber pros during casual Dutch-treat dinners at some of the best eateries in Des Moines.  And peer group dinners match attendees up based on their job role or the size of their organization.

Local flavor. ACCE is offering attendees a few offsite tours so they can get to know Des Moines a little better. Among the options: a firsthand look at the Better Home & Gardens Test Gardens and an economic development tour that includes stops at the city’s major developments and rapidly growing neighborhoods.

Hot topics. The meeting’s 30-plus workshops cover issues that every industry professional is thinking about. “The Robots Have Arrived” will discuss the implications of technological advancements on the workforce and real estate development, while “The Reluctant Generation” will dive into ways chambers can get Gen Xers to step up and lead.
