A roundup of new hires and other personnel moves in the association industry.

Christine M. Klein was hired as vice president of meetings and business partnerships at the Institute of Food Technologists. Klein most recently served as executive director of the Women’s Dermatologic Society.

The American Chemical Society has hired ­Stephen S. Hecht, Ph.D., as editor-in-chief of chemical research in toxicology. Hecht will succeed Lawrence J. Marnett, Ph.D., who will retire at the end of the year.

Chuck Shields has been appointed executive director of the International Urogynecological Association. Previously, Shields was CEO of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.

The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association announced the promotion of Barbara Bull to chapter operations manager.

The American Arbitration Association has promoted India Johnson to acting executive vice president in anticipation of her advancing to the position of president and CEO on January 1. Johnson previously was the senior vice president and chief strategy officer. William K. Slate II, the current president and CEO, will retire at the end of the year.
Marketing General, Inc., has hired Brent Mundt as director of sponsorship strategies. Mundt previously developed a successful sponsorship program for the National Association of College and University Business Officers.

Matt Uchtman has been promoted to director of operations for the Oregon Convention Center. Uchtman had been OCC’s manager of technical services.

The Westin Phoenix Downtown has appointed Todd Iacono general manager.

Anne Clarke has joined the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau as group sales manager. Clarke previously served as event coordinator at Dunegrass
Country Club.

MultiLing has hired Lyle Ball as chief operating officer. He previously served as a strategic advisor to the translation services provider.
