MGM-OPOLY: A Board Game on the Las Vegas Strip
The story behind MGM-OPOLY, a board game that highlights MGM Resorts' reach.
During the holiday season, MGM Resorts International Global Sales team produced and distributed MGM-OPOLY to its key customers as a thank-you for their continued partnership. The game was a takeoff of the popular board game and highlighted the reach of MGM Resorts on the Las Vegas Strip and around the world.
“Our individual brands are iconic, but there seemed to be a lack of understanding in the meetings arena of all that was MGM Resorts International,” says Michael Dominguez, MGM Resorts Senior Vice President of Corporate Hotel Sales. “The game was a very simple way for us to have some fun and at the same time showcase the reach of MGM Resorts. The response has exceeded all of our expectations.”
The game highlights all of the MGM Resorts hotels as well as tying in MGM Resorts’ commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility via its CSR program “Inspiring Our World.”
The game has had such popularity that MGM Resorts launched an online version August 15 to keep the meeting planning community engaged throughout the year. The online game is played simply using Real Estate cards that will be distributed at tradeshows, sales calls and in-person visits by the MGM Resorts sales team. There are six spots on the digital board that will be activated by participation in certain social media aspects, which will include mentioning the MGM-OPOLY hashtag, taking pictures of your board and posting them, and just being engaged. Plans are already underway for a special edition of the game for this holiday season that will focus on the wide array of food and beverage offerings at MGM Resorts.
