Need for speed. During the National Speed Contest, contestants write and transcribe three pieces, each five minutes in length. They include a 220-word-per-minute literary reading, 230-word-per-minute legal opinion, and 280-word-per-minute testimony. The best combined speed and accuracy score wins the championship.

Student support. When attendees register for the meeting, they can support student attendees by adding a donation to their convention registration. Those sponsorship dollars help discount student registration to $105, compared to $595 for other attendees.

Warm welcome. During the Only New Once reception, first-timers will be greeted by the NCRA Board of Directors and Board of Trustees. The newbies will get the chance to ask questions, while NCRA leaders share stories of conferences past.
