“In a world where hospitality is in short supply …” Ahead of the 2013 ASAE Annual Meeting and Exposition in Atlanta, the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau is pulling out all the stops, with the help of an ongoing series of short films to get people psyched a little early. The trailer is above. The ATL Files will have more in the upcoming months — including the first episode later this fall. Can’t wait, right? (ht @stephcifuentes)

Keep Your Virtual Meetings Moving

We already know that some execs prefer the confines of virtual meetings over meeting in person, but how do you make those virtual encounters more useful to your members? According to Elizabeth Zielinski, CMM, writing in Meetings & Conventions, an understanding of what will maximize value goes a long way. “Virtual meetings are just as real in terms of their potential role in an organization as a face-to-face meeting,” she writes. “But they do have unique needs that can be supported by a skilled meeting professional and in doing so, brought to a new level of value for participants.” (ht @aaronwolowiec)

Have you held a virtual meeting lately? If so, what tips can you offer? Let us know in the comments.
