Best Benefit Ever: Badges for Design Pros

Houzz, an online platform that helps homeowners and design professionals connect, is now partnering with the American Institute of Architects on a digital badging benefit.

What’s the benefit? Houzz highlights the best in the world of residential design and serves as an online platform that helps homeowners, creatives, and design and construction professionals share ideas and collaborate on possible projects.

Homeowners can post photos of their own redesigned rooms to see what others think; design professionals can build their clout and establish thought leadership; and discussions about the ins and outs of design can flourish.

Now, Houzz offers members of the American Institute of Architects a way to better inform homeowners of the architectural resources available to them. Members who have a profile on Houzz can display their experience, qualifications, education, and association memberships using the site’s badge program.

And the benefits aren’t limited to AIA members. Houzz is partnering with several associations to ensure that others in design field are getting the recognition they deserve. The site is also working with the American Society of Interior Designers, the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals, and the National Kitchen & Bath Association, just to name a few.

Why it works: In the words of AIA CEO Robert Ivy: “This new relationship allows architects to show their versatility and talent across a range of residential projects. Our members are eager to work even more closely with the Houzz community to show the value that good design can bring.”

Other benefits: AIA also offers architecture professionals access to economic advice and extensive reports on sustainable construction, and it hosts a number of events and conferences, including its national convention held just a few weeks ago in Chicago.
