Executive Summary: Tracy L. Vanneman
Tracy L. Vanneman, the partnerships and programs manager of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, admits to a lifelong obsession with Walt Disney World.
My three goals for 2017
1. Accumulate sufficient professional development experience and study time to sit for the May 2018 CAE exam
2. Navigate the transition in leadership as my organization’s executive director retires
3. Read more of everything
On my desk right now
Coffee, meeting logistics for the upcoming SIOP Annual Conference, a draft of partnership offerings for our fall event, pictures of my family, a sad-looking plant
What I do when I’m not at work
Team up with my amazing husband to care for our four children, exercise, work some more (even though I shouldn’t), collapse into bed at night, and say a prayer to have the privilege to do it all over again tomorrow.
The best advice I ever got
Resist the urge to throw solutions at a problem. Instead, spend that time digging in to find the root cause and address that rather than the surface issues.
If I weren’t doing this, I’d …
… indulge my lifelong obsession with Walt Disney World and just work there.
My media mix
NPR, Hidden Brain, TED Talks, New York Times, and Associations Now, of course!
