The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’ 2018 Annual Meeting starts next week in New Orleans. Around 28,000 are expected to attend.

More than 28,000 people, including 13,000 orthopaedic surgeons and 1,500 other healthcare professionals, are headed to New Orleans next week to connect with peers, hear about trends coming down the pike, and learn best practices for effective orthopaedic care.

Organization: American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons

Conference: 2018 Annual Meeting

Venue: Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

City: New Orleans

The AAOS 2018 Annual Meeting begins on Tuesday morning with scientific exhibits, poster sessions, and instructional courses. Instead of an opening general session, AAOS kicks off with Your Academy 2018, where the association’s leaders will discuss its latest initiatives and successes. Also worth noting:

Learn how you like. The meeting offers a variety of formats for attendees to choose from. Among the options are Showdowns, where surgeons debate topics and techniques, and Flash Five, where attendees hear critical takeaways on hot topics during fast and focused five-minute presentations.

Read all about it. The Daily Edition of AAOS Now, the official newspaper of the AAOS Annual Meeting, is published Tuesday through Friday. Each issue contains coverage of events and scientific presentations, reports on guest speakers and award winners, and shares late-breaking news.

Visit AAOS central. Attendees can visit the AAOS Resource Center to consult with Academy staff who can answer their questions and walk them through the wide selection of career and practice resources and membership benefits available to them. They can also get assistance navigating the AAOS meeting and content apps.
