Destination: Austin
Whether attendees want to work or play, Texas’ capital city has plenty to offer.
With convenience, accessibility, and entertainment options galore, Austin is sure to serve up a meeting attendees will remember.
Downtown convention center. The Austin Convention Center features modern architecture, extensive amenities, and varied meeting spaces. Situated between the shore of Lady Bird Lake and multiple entertainment districts, the convention center totals 881,400 square feet and is within a short distance of 11,000 downtown hotel rooms. At 43,300 square feet, the upper-level Grand Ballroom is the largest in the state, accommodating up to 3,000 people.
Convenient airport. Located less than 10 miles from downtown meeting venues, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is easy to get to. Open since 1999, the airport has roughly 350 daily flights with nonstop service to more than 70 destinations, including international flights to Toronto, London, and Frankfurt. A new nine-gate terminal expansion is expected to be completed by 2019.
Plenty of fun. Austin offers tons of options for parties, receptions, and other events your association may be hosting. Choose from 250-plus live music venues in the city. Or if you’re looking for something with a cultural or historic focus, consider the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum, the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, or the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum.—Samantha Whitehorne
