It takes more than wit or emotion to engage audiences on social media. Sometimes timing is everything.

Sprout Social, a social media management, advocacy, and software platform, used heat mapping to pinpoint the days and times when users are most likely to engage with nonprofits on three of the most popular social networks:

Twitter: 12 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday

Instagram: 2 p.m. Friday

Facebook: 2 p.m. Wednesday, 2 p.m. Friday
