Best Benefit Ever: Regulation Navigation

The Roof Coatings Manufacturers Association makes it easier for members to understand the ins and outs of a complicated field.

Working with a variety of heavy-duty chemicals, the roof coatings industry faces a heavy dose of government regulation. RCMA helps members with maps and databases that make it easy to sort through it all.

Its VOC (volatile organic compound) maps are color-coded, state by state—and even by city or district in California—according to the standards each requires, and users can click each locale to view the specific law. It also offers members a searchable database of tax incentives for energy-saving reflective roof coatings.

Kelly Franklin, industry affairs manager, says she can show prospective members the tools and tell them, “Here is something that you are currently spending staff time and money on that you can join our association and no longer have to do.”
