Best Benefit Ever: Free Education for Assisted Living Professionals

Members of the California Assisted Living Association can bolster their skills through an elite scholarship program.

What’s the benefit? California Assisted Living Association members are eligible to apply for an exclusive scholarship through the University of Southern California Davis School of Gerontology. The scholarship covers tuition costs for one of five graduate degree programs relevant to CALA members’ work. “We’re thrilled that USC has made a commitment to support CALA members in their ongoing pursuit of providing excellent care and service to California’s assisted living residents,” CALA President Sally Michael said in a statement.

Why it works for members: The scholarship provides a qualified recipient the chance to earn a master’s degree in gerontology, aging services management, or long-term-care administration. And the program can be completed either onsite or online, allowing for flexibility in a field that often requires around-the-clock care of others.

Other benefits: CALA has varying degrees of membership, with sustaining-partner members getting a full range of advertising perks such as special recognition at conferences and tradeshows. Additionally, member companies that support student scholarships have exclusive access to meet recipients during CALA’s biannual conferences.
