Best Benefit Ever: Empirical Research for Family and Community Advocates

Members of the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities gain access to expansive research databases.

What’s the benefit? The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities is helping its members create positive change among nonprofit human-service organizations with a more informed approach. The association’s library and knowledge resource, the Severson National Information Center, is now offering members access to EBSCOhost‘s vast research databases, which contain thousands of articles and book summaries. The Alliance has purchased collections related to issues important to its members, including nonprofit management, business, and social science.

Why it works for members: The EBSCOhost database collections provide Alliance members with proven resources to help them navigate the nonprofit world, all in one easy-to-use, targeted virtual platform. Plus, EBSCOhost and the Alliance DocuShare database are both easily accessible from the Severson Center’s digital collections. To get acquainted with the new benefit, members can take part in a free webinar on March 17 at 2pm CT, when “presenters from the Alliance Severson Center staff will cover basic and advanced search techniques, tips for looking at records, and how to create search and journal alerts to stay up to date on topics of interest.”

Other perks: Alliance members can also join in peer networking opportunities, webinars and teleconferences, and facilitated conference calls with key congressional staff, among many other benefits.
