Comings and Goings: July/August 2015

A roundup of new hires and other personnel moves in the association industry.

Robert K. Asdal, who served as executive director of the Hydraulic Institute for 24 years, announced his retirement, effective June 30.

Megan N. Chagrin, CAE, has been named CEO of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine. Schagrin previously was executive director at the American College of Chest Physicians.

The National Court Reporters Association has hired Michael S. Nelson, CAE, as its new CEO and executive director. Most recently, Nelson served as executive vice president at the National Association of Enrolled Agents.

The Child Life Council has chosen Jim Gandorf, CAE, as its new executive director. Prior to joining CLC, Gandorf was vice president of association services for the National Glass Association/Window and Door Dealers Alliance.

James E. Rooney has been hired as the new CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Rooney previously was executive director of the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority.

CMA Association Management has promoted three employees. Gabrielle Copperwheat is now operations director, Josephine Crutchley (above) is now project manager, and Nicole Lauzon is now association coordinator.

The Craft and Hobby Association has promoted Tina Lynn Mercado to associate vice president of events and exhibitions. Mercado has been with CHA since 2007 and most recently served as director of events and expositions.

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions has hired Alexander Monterrubio and Kavitha Subramanian to serve on its team of regulatory affairs counsels.

Carleen Kohut has been promoted to executive vice president and COO for the National Retail Federation.

Marc A. Kaminetsky has joined the Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board as director of sales. Kaminestsky most recently was national sales manager at Discover Lehigh Valley.

Meet College Park Georgia has hired Kristin Schneider as a sales manager.

Jeremy Shaw Wright has been hired as vice president of global accounts at Hospitality Performance Network Global. Wright most recently was senior corporate sales manager at the Mandarin Oriental in Atlanta.

Turnberry Isle Miami has named Jeffrey Klein vice president and managing director. Klein previously was vice president of operations at Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Tradeshow Logic has hired Chris Price as its new chief strategy officer. Price previously was vice president at GASC/NPES, where he oversaw Graph Expo and PRINT.
