The American Veterinary Medical Association's 2016 Annual Convention kicks off in San Antonio this weekend.

More than 5,000 veterinary medical professionals will be in San Antonio in the days ahead, not only to advance their knowledge and skills through education, networking with peers, and interactive labs, but also to make sure they’re in the know about the latest industry research.

Association: American Veterinary Medical Association

Conference: 2016 Annual Convention

Venue: Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center

Location: San Antonio

Following some sessions and events on Friday and the exhibit hall opening on Saturday morning, AVMA 2016 really gets into gear with a keynote luncheon featuring Dr. Dan Siegel. He’ll discuss how understanding the mind and cultivating “mindsight” can support personal and professional well-being. Also on the agenda:

Loyal customers. Attendees who join the AVMA Member Loyalty Program will receive discounted registration fees for consecutive years of attendance. Those attending for their second year in a row receive a $25 discount, while those in San Antonio for their fourth consecutive year get $100 off.

Experts only. New this year is the Meet-the-Experts Round Table. The event will feature around 40 roundtable discussions devoted to current topics in veterinary medicine. During three 20-minuute rounds, attendees will meet and interact with featured speakers and AVMA leaders in an interactive setting and come away with something to bring back to their practices.

Test drive. AVMA’s Vet Clinic Live! is a real-life representation of a functioning veterinary clinic, stocked with the newest products available. Clinical scenarios will show attendees how to use the products in real-life situations.
