Wednesday Buzz: Shaking Things Up at #MMCCon
At ASAE’s Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference, association pros are discovering ways to reimagine what they've always done.
ASAE’s Marketing, Membership & Communications Conference kicked off yesterday in Washington, DC. This year’s theme: “New Perspectives.”
“A new perspective changes results,” says the conference site. “For marketing, membership, and communications professionals, staying ahead can mean looking at what you’ve always done and shaking it up.”
On Tuesday, opening keynote speaker Jamie Turner, CEO of the marketing consultancy SIXTY, urged attendees to let go of the traditional sales funnel and practice nonlinear marketing to increase membership recruitment.
And Wednesday, attendees heard from basketball legend Byron Scott and business executive Charlie Norris, who forged an odd-couple friendship based on shared leadership ideals. The coauthors of Slam-Dunk Success: Leading from Every Position on Life’s Court coached attendees on teamwork, negotiation, and motivating others.
If you couldn’t make it to DC, enjoy this glimpse at the the #MMCCon buzz on Twitter:
I remember watching @official_bscott torch the Bulls a time or two! Now he’s on stage with Charlie Norris talking about his book: Slam-Dunk Success. Key trakeaway…real leaders encourage risk and celebrate failure. Growth comes from learning from mistakes. #MMCCon pic.twitter.com/k7ZN8644bo
