Daily Buzz: A Whiskey Summit
Whiskey associations from around the world will converge in Kentucky this week for a summit to discuss concerns about tariffs and trade. Also: conference survival tips for introverts.
Associations in many industries have raised concerns about the impact of tariffs implemented by the Trump administration, and whiskey distillers are among them. This week, the industry’s eight leading associations are gathering in Kentucky for a historic meeting, the W8: Spirit of Collaboration Summit, according to The Lane Report.
Groups from all over the world will be attending, including the Irish Whiskey and Spirits associations, the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association, the Scotch Whisky Association, and Spirits Canada.
“The global whiskey industry has been enjoying an unprecedented level of success to the benefit of our legendary producers, consumers, countries, and local communities,” Kentucky Distillers’ Association President Eric Gregory told the publication. “It’s critical that we maintain this momentum and ensure that world leaders understand the deep economic impact of whiskey and how it will be affected if this unfortunate trade war escalates or continues to extend.”
