Membership Hack: Celebrate Online Contributors

The American Staffing Association’s online community marked its fourth anniversary by recognizing its most active participants.

How to hack it? To deepen member engagement, the American Staffing Association hosts a digital space for robust member-oriented conversations. This online community, called ASA Central, will soon turn four years old.

And to celebrate the occasion, Luke Zimmer, manager for sections and member engagement, is devoting an entire week to members who are active contributors. He’s calling it ASA Central Week. “It’s a celebration of our community,” Zimmer says. “We’ll be highlighting the contributions of our top 10 contributors, as well as some popular content shared.” Messages recognizing active contributors will be posted in the community and ASA’s member newsletter.

Why does it work? “This is a way to say thank you to our most active contributors,” Zimmer says. “And hopefully it gives other less active members an example for how to get involved.”

What’s the bonus? ASA Central’s communities are broken down into six smaller sections dedicated to different sectors of the staffing industry.

Last year, enrollment in those sectors increased by 25 percent. “That was about twice the increase as the year before,” Zimmer says. “So we were pretty excited about that continued growth.” Zimmer says he hopes initiatives like ASA Central Week will continue to grow the community further.
