Venue: Millennium Biltmore Hotel

Location: Los Angeles

CRRA’s 39th Annual Conference & Tradeshow begins on Tuesday with International Zero Waste Day. Presentations and case studies will cover how countries around the global are implementing zero-waste initiatives. Three other ideas worth recycling at your next event:

Location spotlight. CRRA is taking advantage of its location for many aspects of the meeting. For example, the theme of the 2015 meeting is “Lights, camera, zero waste in action.” In addition, Tuesday night’s Welcome Reception will have a green carpet, and attendees are encouraged to wear vintage tuxes and gowns to add a touch of Hollywood glamour. A few sessions will also address how to reduce waste in the film industry.

Next-gen nurturing. To encourage the industry’s next generation of workers and members, CRRA is hosting Zerowaste Young Professionals alongside International Zero Waste Day. This almost six-hour program will have sessions on a variety of topics, including finding a job in zero waste, how universities are leading the zero-waste movement, and how to organize for change.

Learn from a pro. Attendees not sure how they’ll be able to commit to zero-waste living will want to stick around for Friday’s Closing Keynote, Bea Johnson. She’s the author of Zero Waste Home, and her family has lived waste-free since 2008.  Johnson will discuss the financial, health, and time-saving benefits of doing so.

Check in on the meeting from afar via Twitter (#CRRA2015) and Facebook.
