How to hack it? Association apps can serve a variety of purposes. At the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), it’s all about delivering benefits to members. Its new Member Edge app offers access to savings on everything from movie tickets and clothing to insurance and office supplies.

Why does it work? The app is a single mobile destination for taking advantage of member benefits, and it gives AVMA insight into which benefits are the most essential. “AVMA will continue to assess member needs and review metrics along with overall value of partnerships as the program evolves,” said Jodie Taggett, director of partnerships and program development. The association also plans to update products and services in the app each year.

What’s the bonus? Member Edge is also helping to give AVMA an edge in recruiting and engaging a younger generation of members. The association offers in-app benefits specific to those graduating from veterinary schools, like student loan refinancing and practice loan offers.
