The New England Association for College Admission Counseling’s Annual Meeting and Conference begins next week in Boston.

More than 800 college admission professionals from across New England will be in Beantown to engage in lively conversation, share ideas, listen to new perspectives, and collaborate across their institutions.

Association: New England Association for College Admission Counseling

Conference: NEACAC Annual Meeting and Conference

Venue: Northeastern University

Location: Boston

Following a number of preconference workshops, as well as the NEACAC 50th Anniversary Golf Tournament, NEACAC 2016 begins on Wednesday evening with one timeslot of sessions followed by an opening keynote by Jacques Steinberg. He is the senior vice president for higher education and communications at the nonprofit Say Yes to Education and former national education correspondent for The New York Times. Also on the agenda:

Fifty years young. As previously mentioned, NEACAC will mark its 50th anniversary at this year’s meeting, and several events and activities are planned to celebrate. One is a dessert reception that will give attendees an opportunity to take a walk down memory lane and also contemplate the next 50 years. Attendees can also contribute to the 50th anniversary interactive timeline that will be stationed throughout the conference.

Community focus. Attendees had the chance to volunteer their time and knowledge by visiting Boston’s Match Public Charter High School and providing students with informational sessions about the college-admission process. In addition to the school outreach program, NEACAC is  collecting unused toiletries during the conference to donate to local Boston organizations.

Painless networking. Attendees who may be more introverted or who just don’t excel at the networking game can keep an eye out for “Meet & Greet” areas in the dining hall and at evening activities throughout the conference. These are reserved spaces for newcomers or those looking to meet new colleagues.
