Data analytics can fuel better outcomes in many areas, including college student achievement, according to three leading education associations that joined forces last year to urge more higher ed institutions to “harness analytics for better strategic decision-making.”

The National Association of College and University Business Officers, the Association for Institutional Research, and EDUCAUSE came together on the issue to showcase the power of collaboration. “We wanted to model what we think institutions should do,” says NACUBO President and CEO Susan Johnston.

Christine Keller, executive director and CEO of AIR, says analytics are key to all universities’ mission. “We all have a common goal—student success,” she says. “It’s time for an institution-wide commitment to the informed and ethical use of data analytics to help us reach that goal.”
